Rename a team’s general channel
You now have the ability to rename your team’s General channel in Microsoft Teams. This feature allows you to customize the channel name to better suit your team’s specific needs and make it more identifiable in the list of teams and channels. Both team owners and members with the necessary permissions can perform this renaming.
To rename the General channel, follow these steps:
- Open Microsoft Teams and navigate to the team containing the General channel.
- Click on the More options button (three dots) next to the General channel.
- Select Rename channel.
- Enter the new name for the channel and click Save.
Renaming the General channel can help improve organization and clarity within your team.

Enhanced Chat Details Pane Microsoft Teams has introduced a new chat details pane that provides all the information you need without leaving the conversation. To access this feature, open a Teams chat and select Open chat details. This pane allows you to view pinned messages, search for specific content, and more, all within the same chat window.
Time Detection in Copilot Chats Need updates or highlights from a specific timeframe? Copilot can assist with that. Simply ask, “What were the highlights from last month?” to get a summary.
Improvements to Minimized Meeting Windows When you minimize your meeting window or start presenting, you can now view up to four participants in the presenter window. Additionally, you have the option to completely minimize or expand the presenter window.
Streamlined Feedback Experience Submitting feedback or suggesting features in Teams desktop or web is now more efficient. Feedback will be processed through the Cloud Policy service for Microsoft 365 instead of the Microsoft Teams policies. s
